Fabienne DELFOUR

Ethologist and Cetologist

Dr. Fabienne Delfour, a cognitive ethologist and cetologist, is a visiting lecturer at the École Nationale Vétérinaire de Toulouse and an associate researcher at the Institute of Language, Communication and Brain at Aix Marseille Université. Her research in ethno-phenomenology aims to understand animality. Fabienne Delfour de-anthropomorphizes concepts to more accurately grasp the animal perspective and its sentience. Adopting a systemic approach, she considers the potential for anthropozoological porosity to foster dialogue between human and non-human animals. Through projects in Arts, Sciences, and Environment, Fabienne Delfour encourages us to cultivate wonder and proposes new connections between living beings.
She is an Expert Member of the Species and French Overseas Territories Conservation Groups of the IUCN and serves on several animal welfare and ethics committees. Her expertise contributes to the protection and defense of biodiversity, particularly marine megafauna. An author of several works, she recently published "In the Skin of a Dolphin" (Flammarion) and "Not So Stupid, These Animals" (Merci les livres).
