Marine CALMET
Lawyer, Co-founder and President of Wild Legal
An environmental law expert and spokesperson for the Or de question collective opposing the "Montagne d'or" and mining industry in French Guiana, Marine Calmet advocates for the defense of nature's rights. With one foot in the Amazon and the other in mainland France, she develops new responses to the ecological crisis, drawing inspiration from the intelligence of ecosystems and the knowledge of indigenous peoples. At thirty-four, she is the president of Wild Legal, an organization dedicated to being a school and incubator for future trials defending the rights of nature. She is the author of the book Becoming Guardians of Nature (Ed. Tana, 2021, winner of the European Institute of Ecology Book Prize) and Decolonizing the Law (Wild Project, 2024).
