Merem TAHAR

Public Relations and Press Officer for the Les Femmes de la Diaspora Tchadienne Association

Merem Tahar is a force of nature, a whirlwind of positive energy that makes you think and inspires many. We can't wait to see how this whirlwind will move the mountains ahead!" – Anne Charbonnier.

Merem Tahar juggles her studies in private law with her passion for environmental protection. She stands out as the first female representative of the indigenous Toubou (GÂ) people from Northern Chad (Tibesti, Borku, Ennedi, Kamen, Bahr El Ghazel) on the international stage. Her journey is marked by deep commitment to the Association Les Femmes de la Diaspora Tchadienne, founded by her mother, Saadia Aboubakar, in November 2020 during the lockdown period.

Her efforts extend to social initiatives in France as well as humanitarian projects in Chad, aimed at ensuring access to education, clean water, healthcare, food security, and other essential needs.

Merem is recognized globally as the youth special envoy of the president of the 15th United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, H.E. Alain-Richard Donwahi, where she engages youth and raises awareness about the challenges of desertification.
