Sébastien Abis has been a research associate at IRIS since 2012.
Since 2017, he has been the director of Club DEMETER, the ecosystem of decision-makers in the agricultural, agro-industrial and agri-food sectors. Its activities focus on long-term thinking, global strategic issues, innovation dynamics and cross-sector experiences in favor of sustainable development. Around its 80 member companies, Club DEMETER networks 20 higher education schools, mobilizes scientific experts and cooperates with 5 French ministries.
Sébastien Abis is developing his expertise in the geopolitics of food security and agriculture worldwide, between his activities in international cooperation, business networking and research. He also works on the evolution of French power, sovereignty issues in Europe and the dynamics of globalization. He also specializes in the Mediterranean / Middle East region. He also explores the maritime field, analyzing the strategies of players and the transformations of international trade.
Sébastien Abis appears regularly in the media, notably on LCI and France 24, and at public events. He is the author of some twenty books and numerous articles. Each year, he co-edits Le Déméter (IRIS Editions), a forward-looking analysis of agriculture, food and rural life around the world.
