Baptiste MORIZOT
Philosopher, Writer, and Lecturer at the University of Aix-Marseille
Baptiste Morizot is a philosopher, writer, and lecturer at Aix-Marseille University. His research examines humanity's place within the living world and explores new ways to coexist with other species. His book The Diplomats: Cohabiting with Wolves on Another Map of the Living (Wild Project, 2016) earned him recognition in the field of ecological philosophy. A theorist and practitioner of animal tracking, he has followed the traces of large predators around the globe, an experience he shares in On the Animal Trail (Actes Sud, 2018).
Through his writings, including Rekindling the Embers of the Living (Actes Sud, 2020), he advocates for rewilding relationships between humans and nature. His reflections, deeply rooted in concrete experiences, shed light on the challenges of our time and offer visions of a livable future in harmony with the natural world. Most recently, in Restoring Water to the Earth: Alliances in Rivers Facing Climate Chaos (Actes Sud, 2024), co-written with artist Suzanne Husky, he delves into the deep time of rivers and pays tribute to beavers, whose millennia-long work hydrating landscapes can help us face droughts, fires, and floods.
