Flavia COELHO
Author, composer, performer
Flavia has traveled all over the world, from the hills of Rio de Janeiro to the cobbled streets of Paris. Since arriving in France in 2006, Flavia has toured everywhere, from Africa to Canada, through Europe and India. With each tour, this true Carioca brings back different sounds, colors, and desires. Mixing pop, samba, reggae, forró, bossa, and hip hop? Everything is possible for Flavia, who wants to break free from the music she could have been confined to in Brazil. After four albums and numerous collaborations (TéTé, Gael Faye, Aldebert, Synapson, Bernard Lavilliers, Pauline Croze...), Flavia returns more inspired than ever with GINGA, ready to make the crowds and festivals vibrate.
Flavia Coelho has built her career between rigor, freedom, and openness to the world, with influences ranging from British pop rock to electro, including classical music. The entire discography of Flavia Coelho is based on her personal evolution, from the passionate and dreamy teenager to the sparkling, committed young woman.
The story of her previous album, DNA (released in 2019), for example, began when she was 38, the same age her mother was when she passed away. An album that Flavia naturally dedicated to her origins, but also to the richness of cultural mixing, self-acceptance, and transmission, while simultaneously reflecting the political situation in Brazil under Bolsonaro at the time. Today, Flavia Coelho continues her exploration of identity and her search for authenticity, addressing themes of rebuilding, courage, and resilience, with her loyal producer and arranger Victor Vagh-Weinmann, whom she met when she first arrived in France.
Together, they initiated and created all the composition material, including electronic pads, organs, keyboards, guitars, and percussion. These elements, combined with catchy melodies and Flavia's enchanting voice, brought the ten gems of GINGA to life.
