Mathilde BORD-LAURANS

Head of the Climate and Nature Division, French Development Agency (AFD)

Mathilde Bord-Laurans has over fifteen years of experience in development financing in the energy, infrastructure, and climate sectors. She holds two engineering degrees from École Centrale Paris and the École Nationale du Génie Rural, des Eaux et des Forêts (ENGREF). Mathilde joined the French Development Agency (AFD) in 2005, where she managed projects related to energy transition and biodiversity protection, particularly in Africa. In 2015, she moved to AFD’s private sector subsidiary, Proparco, before leading AFD’s Energy Transition activities. She is currently the head of the Climate and Nature team, which brings together 20 specialists working across climate and biodiversity issues—core components of AFD’s mandate.
