A former student of the École Polytechnique and the École Nationale du Génie Rural, des Eaux et des Forêts, Olivier Thibault is a general engineer of bridges, waters, and forests. He has been involved for 20 years in managing issues related to water, nature, and biodiversity. He served as the director of the Artois-Picardie Water Agency from 2010 to 2017 and then led the National Office for Hunting and Wildlife (ONCFS) from 2017 to 2019. He was the director of water and biodiversity at the Ministry of the Environment since 2019 before becoming the General Director of the French Office for Biodiversity on June 5, 2023.
