Senior AI Project Manager at Mila, Host of the Podcast "The World We Are Building"

In videoconference - Allison Cohen is a senior applied AI project manager on Mila's AI for Humanity team. In this role, Allison works closely with AI researchers, social science experts and external partners to professionalize and deploy socially beneficial AI tools and best practices. Her passion for deconstructing complex social challenges and developing innovative solutions stems from her studies in international development (BA) and global affairs (MA), which inspired a multidisciplinary, justice-focused perspective.
Mila - Institut québécois d'intelligence artificielle - is recognized worldwide for its major contributions to AI. Today, Mila's community includes the largest concentration of university researchers in deep learning in the world. The institute stands out for its expertise and innovations in modeling languages, machine translation, object recognition and generative models. Mila focuses its mission on fundamental research areas such as health, the environment and climate change, as well as the ethics of AI. Mila is extending its AI expertise and leadership to deploy advances that will benefit all of society. At Mila, research is conducted in “open science” mode. The aim: to promote collaboration and foster knowledge transfer.
