Benoit COEURÉ

Benoit COEURÉ

President of the French Competition Authority

Benoît Coeuré has served as President of the French Competition Authority since January 2022. Between 2020 and 2021, he led the BIS Innovation Hub and was a member of its Executive Committee. Previously, he was a member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank (ECB) from 2012 to 2019 and chaired the BIS Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures from 2013 to 2020.
Before joining the ECB, he held various positions at the French Treasury and the French Debt Management Office, notably serving as Deputy Director-General and Chief Economist of the French Treasury from 2009 to 2011.
Mr. Coeuré is a graduate of the École Polytechnique in Paris. He holds a master’s degree in statistics and economic policy from the École Nationale de la Statistique et de l’Administration Économique (ENSAE) and a bachelor’s degree in Japanese. He has authored several articles and books on economic policy, the international monetary system, and the economics of European integration.
