Javier GOYENECHE

Javier GOYENECHE

Founder and president of Ecoalf

Born in Madrid, Javier Goyeneche studied in Spain, London, and Paris, earning a degree in Business Administration from the European Business School and completing postgraduate studies in International Marketing at Northwestern University. He founded Fun & Basics in 1995, building it into a thriving fashion accessories brand before selling it in 2006.
Driven by frustration over waste in the fashion industry, Javier founded Ecoalf in 2013, a pioneering sustainable fashion brand named after his sons, Alfredo and Alvaro. Ecoalf uses cutting-edge recycled materials to produce a full lifestyle collection, distributed in over 1,800 points of sale and flagship stores in cities like Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, Milan, and Tokyo. Collaborations with brands like Apple, Swatch, and Coca-Cola have amplified its impact.
Ecoalf became the first Spanish fashion brand certified B Corp in 2018 and has earned multiple recognitions, including being named one of B Corp’s "Best for the World" and Spain’s most environmentally responsible company in the Merco Responsibility ESG rankings (2022 and 2023). In 2020, Javier was awarded the Schwab Foundation’s Social Innovator of the Year, cementing his role as a leader in sustainable fashion.
