Maël CAZES MEYER

Maël CAZES MEYER

Aspiring explorer

Maël Cazes Meyer is 11 years old and lives in Rennes, Brittany. He loves soccer, playing the piano, science, and nature.

He has participated in two scientific expeditions with the association “Cap au Nord”: one in the Queyras region of the Alps and another in Greenland. A third expedition is planned for February 2025, where he will study the composition of the water in Lake Saint-Anne, including ice diving to collect samples.

Each expedition requires preparation beforehand and follow-up afterward. Maël received scholarships from the Brittany region and the Rennes city council to present his findings from the Greenland expedition at the auditorium of the Maison des Associations. This experience taught him how to secure funding and speak in public. He realizes how fortunate he is when he shares his experiences with school classes, introducing students to glaciers and the science behind them.

During expeditions, Maël loves being immersed in nature, sleeping in a tent, observing animals, and learning about the planet by listening to the scientists who accompany them. He has become increasingly aware of the impacts of climate change and hopes the Earth will remain just as beautiful when he grows up.
