Carlos MORENO

Scientific Director of the "Entrepreneurship, Territory, and Innovation" Chair - IAE Paris-Sorbonne, University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne

Carlos Moreno is a renowned urban planner and Franco-Colombian professor based in Paris. He is best known for pioneering the concept of the "15-Minute City | 30-Minute Territory," which promotes a sustainable and human-centered urban lifestyle. This concept has been widely adopted by mayors and international organizations advocating for more sustainable cities worldwide, becoming a global movement. In Paris, his ideas have been embraced by Mayor Anne Hidalgo, contributing to the city’s transformation. A scientific advisor to various international organizations, he is recognized for his contributions to urban planning. He is also a member of the "American Academy of Housing and Communities." A professor at IAE Paris Sorbonne, University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, his work has earned international recognition, including the OBEL Award in 2021, the UN-Habitat Honorary Scroll in 2022, and the Global Leadership Award for Sustainable Development at the UN headquarters in 2024 during the 19th Global Forum on Human Settlements. In 2023, he was inducted into Sigma Xi, the world’s largest scientific honor society, founded in 1886 at Cornell University. His books have been translated into numerous languages, underscoring his global influence. Prof. Moreno is actively shaping the global discourse on urban and territorial transformation, focusing on creating livable cities that prioritize residents' well-being.
