Agronomist (ISTOM), Damien Conaré has contributed to various agricultural magazines, including Cultivar, Afrique Agriculture, Marchés tropicaux et méditerranéens, and more. He later joined the NGO Solagral (Agricultural and Food Solidarities), where he served as editor-in-chief of the quarterly Courrier de la planète, addressing global issues related to development, environment, and agriculture.

In 2011, he was appointed Secretary General of the UNESCO Chair on World Food Systems, hosted by Montpellier SupAgro. There, he developed activities around three main areas: coordinating action-research programs (particularly on the sustainability of urban food systems), training, and fostering science-society dialogue (through conferences, seminars, and publications).
