Jean-Marc JANCOVICI

Jean-Marc JANCOVICI

Engineer, Professor at Mines ParisTech, Partner at Carbone 4, President of The Shift Project.

Jean-Marc Jancovici, an engineer and educator, is a pioneering figure in France's energy transition. A graduate of École Polytechnique and Télécom ParisTech, he created the carbon footprint tool, developed for ADEME. Co-founder of Carbone 4 and the think tank The Shift Project, he has been known since 2008 for his impactful lectures on climate change and energy production. A member of the High Council for Climate since 2018, he advocates for energy sobriety and a necessary transition in response to fossil fuel depletion. His 2021 book, The Endless World, was a major success. A strong proponent of nuclear energy as a decarbonization strategy, Jancovici challenges the prevailing economic and energy models with his realistic approach to the need for degrowth.
