Sudanese Climate

Nisreen Elsaim is an accomplished environmental and climate activist with a Bachelor's in physics and a master's in renewable energy from the University of Khartoum, Sudan. Throughout her career, Nisreen has fostered community organizations, establishing over 13 at local, regional, and international levels, with her dedication and impact recognized by various nominations and prizes, including Kofi Annan Democracy.
She serves as General Coordinator for Youth and Environment—Sudan (YES), a platform providing networking opportunities for environmentally conscious youth. Nisreen also chairs the Sudan Youth Organization on Climate Change (SYOCC), a youth-led organization addressing climate issues.
Her influence extends internationally, leading and mentoring youth within organizations like YOUNGO, PACJA, and Abu Dhabi Youth Voices. She also contributes to international dialogues as a junior negotiator with the African Group of Negotiators, focusing on technology transfer and climate policies. Nisreen has contributed to policy papers on climate change, renewable energy, gender equality, and youth empowerment. In 2020, she was appointed to chair the UN Secretary-General Youth Adviser on Climate Change. In 2022, Nisreen was selected for the inaugural cohort of the Marianne Initiative for Human Rights Defenders, a program initiated by the French president. The same year, media outlets reported she had been shortlisted for the Nobel Peace Prize. Currently, she continues her activism as a fellow at the Robert Bosch Academy and Re.Generation leader by FPA2.
