Laurent BALLESTA

Laurent BALLESTA

Photographer, diver, and naturalist biologist

Laurent Ballesta, marine biologist and photographer, tirelessly explores the depths of the oceans to unveil their beauty and fragility. Fascinated by Commander Cousteau since childhood, he has devoted his life to capturing the unseen and raising awareness about the endangered treasures of the deep.
A pioneer of extreme diving, Ballesta recently spent 28 days in continuous immersion in the Mediterranean, documenting rare and unseen underwater life. His photographs are not just stunning works of art but urgent calls to action: the oceans, the planet’s lungs, are in critical danger.
Through expeditions that blend science and advocacy, Ballesta provides a rare glimpse into a mysterious world, reminding us that protecting the oceans is essential to safeguarding humanity’s future. © ARTE
