Luca Gamberini is a young entrepreneur passionate about both the sea and agriculture, two fields he has decided to combine to address one of the biggest challenges of our time: feeding the additional 2 billion people that the world will need to sustain in the coming years. His dream is to make underwater agriculture a reality and help everyone have access to food every day.
A keen surfer, Luca has had numerous opportunities to explore the underwater world and its properties, which inspired him to come up with innovative solutions for agriculture. Alongside his father Sergio, he grew up by the sea in Italy, where their family has been working in the field for 76 years. They have witnessed the limitations of traditional farming. 12 years ago, they had a bold idea: what if we grew plants underwater?
Luca attented 2 years in biomedical Engineering and graduated in Economics from the University of Genova. He has also been the voice of Ocean Reef, the family business, in both Italy and the United States. Today, he is actively working on projects to develop sustainable underwater agriculture, with the goal of supporting the alternatives to feed the world by 2050.
