After studying chemistry, Marylise Léon worked for a consulting firm as an environmental and safety manager. She then joined the Institute for Development, Studies, and Training of the CFDT Chemistry-Energy Federation, where she trained employee representatives on major industrial risks. In 2012, she joined the executive committee of the federation.
At the CFDT Congress in Marseille in 2014, she was elected to the executive committee, where she took on responsibility for social dialogue, sustainable development, and industrial policy. At the 2018 Congress in Rennes, she became Deputy Secretary-General, responsible for coordinating advocacy actions and inter-union relations.
On June 21, 2023, Marylise Léon was elected Secretary-General of the CFDT.
