Philippe MADEC

Architect and Writer - Atelier Philippe Madec

An architect and urban planner, awarded the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture in 2012. He is a professor in landscape architecture (Versailles, Harvard) and architecture (Montréal, Vienna, Paris, Lyon, Rennes, La Réunion). He is also an author, with his latest book "Écovillage des Noés. Val-de-Reuil 2008/2024. Accueillir l’en-commun" published by Le Moniteur, Paris, in 2024. He co-authored the Manifesto for Happy and Creative Frugality in Architecture and the Design of Urban and Rural Territories (2018). He has been a full member of the Europe chapter of the Club of Rome since 2008 and of the Academy of Architecture since 2009. He was awarded the Légion d'Honneur for his work in ecology in 2008. He served as an expert for the UN Habitat III conference in 2016 and was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Liège in 2022.
