Raphaël GASTEBOIS

Chief Architect and Urban Planner of the State, In charge of architectural conservation of the Palace of Versailles, World Heritage Referent, Palace of Versailles

State Architect and Urban Planner, born in 1976 in Coutances, Normandy, Raphaël Gastebois has been responsible for the architectural conservation of the Château and National Estate of Versailles since 2020, following a four-year mission in Pondicherry, India, as an international technical expert.

Prior to this, his career as an Architect of the Buildings of France took him from Manche to Marne, then to the Indian Ocean, in Réunion and Mayotte, where he also served as Regional Conservator of Historic Monuments.

Trained at the Normandy School of Architecture, the École de Chaillot, and the École des Ponts et Chaussées, he worked alongside Bruno Decaris and later Pierre-Yves Caillault, both Chief Architects of Historic Monuments (ACMH), before joining the Ministry of Culture.

Alongside his professional duties, he has taught at the Institute of Territorial Planning and Urbanism at the University of Reims (IATEUR) as well as at the schools of architecture in Nancy and Réunion.
