Which media to turn to?

It's a paradox and a source of hope. Three quarters of French people follow the news with a certain interest, but more than half of them distrust what the media have to say (*). This feeling of mistrust towards the media is not new, but it is growing as the sector changes and the media are concentrated in the hands of large financial groups. How can the credibility of the media be restored when they are often perceived as being linked to power or manipulative? Why are young people turning away from the major news channels, preferring to get their information from social networks, despite their obvious limitations? The second paradox is that fake news is on the increase, yet we have never had access to so much information and its sources. 
This session, at the crossroads of transparency and journalistic rigour, will plunge into the heart of these burning issues. In the age of AI and information overload, how can we avoid distorting the facts? Can we still rely on traditional sources? Or should we turn to new information models? A lively debate is shaping up around the quality of information and journalistic practices in the face of technological upheaval. An essential reflection for anyone considering the media of today and tomorrow.

What do we expect from AI to save us ?
A robot may not harm a human being; a robot must obey humans, unless this conflicts with the first law; a robot must protect its existence, unless this conflicts with the first or second law.” What if we drew inspiration from Isaac Asimov's laws of robotics to think about artificial intelligence “for good”?
At a time when AI is establishing itself as a tool with unprecedented capabilities, we urgently need to act to steer its development towards altruistic and beneficial goals. This technology has the potential to positively transform our lives, from combating climate change to improving healthcare. But how can we ensure that it truly serves the common good, rather than becoming a potential threat? In this session, we will explore how to develop ethical and responsible AI, capable of responding to the major challenges of our time while avoiding pitfalls such as reproducing stereotypes or exacerbating inequalities. We will address the responsibilities of those who design and use AI, and discuss the need for possible global regulation to make it a tool truly at the service of humanity and living beings.

Fishing and exploitation of marine resources
Fish holds a significant place in our diet, yet this growing consumption raises critical questions. Intensive fishing, driven by high global demand, endangers marine resources and disrupts ocean ecosystems. Today, more than a third of fish stocks are affected by overfishing—a worrying statistic that continues to climb.

What type of fishing practices should we promote? How can we balance dietary needs with the preservation of marine ecosystems? Should we reconsider the role of fish in our diets and enforce stricter limits, such as closing certain fishing zones or banning destructive practices?

This session seeks to explore these pressing issues and spark a debate on the necessary solutions to safeguard our marine resources while meeting the demands of sustainable and responsible eating habits.

Children and adults alike are spending less and less time outdoors, with direct consequences for our physical and mental well-being, and our commitment to the environment.
